Biography

I am an elite track, road and cross-country runner currently focusing on the 1500m. I am a hometown Brampton gal, but currently live in Toronto and am a member of Athletics Toronto, a team of elite mid-distance and distance from the GTA coached by Dave Reid, Hugh Cameron and Eddie Raposo. I attended Turner Fenton Secondary School in Brampton before moving to Durham, North Carolina to attend Duke University on a track and cross-country scholarship. During my time as  Duke Blue Devil, I served as Team Captain, set an NCAA record (1000m Indoor in a time of 2:41.00) as well as several school records, and earned 2 All-American honours, while focusing my studies in the areas of Cultural Anthropology and Documentary Studies. I have represented Canada at 8 international games including the IAAF World Track and Field Championships, Les Jeux de la Francophonie, and the Commonwealth Games.  I am a two-time Canadian National 1500m Champion (2013 & 2014), as well as the 2014 Commonwealth Games 1500m bronze medalist. My long-term athletic goals include the 2015 Pan-American Games in Toronto followed by the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I am interested in a post-running career that combines my love of writing, community activism/engagement and travel, but in the meantime I am loving the adventure, freedom and deep satisfaction that my sport brings me each and every day!
